Happy June, All You Branders! In the past months, we’ve shared tips and insights into personal branding. You’ve been reading and thinking about how you can improve your personal brand and clarify your trajectory. We’ve landed into the middle of the year, now five whole months into 2023. All You Branding wonders: Have you made steps toward your goals for 2023? What did you hope to accomplish this year for your personal brand? Are you on your way to doing that? Or have you gotten distracted or derailed? If so, how can you get back on track?
- Don’t be too harsh in your judgment of yourself—none of us can predict unexpected illnesses, job changes, moves, or family issues—but do take some time to think about what your goals were for the year. If you journaled or wrote them down at New Year’s or on your last birthday, dig that out and read it again. If you’re not a chronicler, set some time aside to sit outside and think back to what you’d hoped to accomplish this year. Maybe jot down some notes on where you’d hoped to be in your Notes app or in a notebook somewhere.
- Look at what you’ve written down, earlier in the year or upon reflection. Are your goals still relevant? Have they changed? If your goals still speak to you, honestly assess whether you’ve made progress. Take some time to jot down steps you’ve taken toward accomplishing those goals, as well as where you’ve fallen short. Celebrate your wins!
- If your goals have changed due to circumstances or choice, make corrections and amendments to ensure your goals still represent who and where you want to be. Add these new goals to your list. Be specific! Be bold! Be realistic, too.
- Once you’ve reflected on where you’re doing well and where you’re falling short, decide on some action steps you can take to get moving. Small steps count! Begin the work of developing your personal brand with small, consistent, daily actions. Productivity and calendar apps like Todoist are your friend! They will help you make timelines and action steps, as well as set deadlines and reminders for yourself. Feeling stuck? We’re here to help. Getting a professional consultation can help you take doable steps toward your goals, with accountability.
- Follow your plan! Once you’ve built your roadmap, it’s time to get to work. It’s easy to focus on all the things you haven’t done—instead, try to start noticing and documenting your daily progress. Be proud of yourself when you’ve demonstrated consistency and devotion to YOU and all your potential! Find supporters who want the best for you and with whom you can share your progress.
While things don’t always go according to plan, it’s helpful to have a flexible roadmap toward your goals. Taking time every few months to reflect, evaluate, and reassess acknowledges the living nature of your dreams—it’s ok if they change and grow! Being intentional is a gift to yourself. We are always happy to help you get clear about who you are and what you want. Schedule a one-on-one consultation today. And get out there and enjoy the weather!
